| Description | This series includes material relating to the administration and publication of A Dictionary of British and Irish Travellers in Italy, 1701-1800 (published in 1997). The majority of the series is comprised of correspondence, largely between Ford and John Ingamells, the editor of the Dictionary from 1992.
The series also includes material related to the editorial process, such as early proofs of the Dictionary, as well as post-publication material including reviews and correspondence from Ford's peers.
The material has been arranged chronologically, and filed into pre-publication and post-publication material.
Some correspondence in this series includes enclosed material from the sender, such as proofs for the Dictionary or press cuttings. Where original order dictated, this material has been kept with the related correspondence. In the case of the pre-publication material, any material which came separated from its correspondence has been filed into RBF/13/3. For post-publication correspondence, this has been filed into RBF/13/5.
