DescriptionThis file contains correspondence, largely of an adminstrative nature, at the early stages of work on the Dictionary with Kim Sloan as editor.

The majority of the material is correspondence between Ford and Michael Kitson, Director of the Paul Mellon Centre, and relates to the early planning of the Dictionary and formal agreements between the Paul Mellon Centre and Ford.

Of particular note:
-letter from Michael Kitson to Ford, dated 4 May 1987, recommending Kim Sloan for the role as editor of the Dictionary
-drafted and final agreement between the Paul Mellon Centre and Ford, dated 2 Sep 1988
-first five pages of a NEASECS conference paper, written by Kim Sloan, dated 7 Oct 1989, titled 'British artists and the Dictionary of British visitors to Italy'
