DescriptionIncludes correspondence of a personal nature written by Nicolson from Eton boarding school. Letters from this period are less concerned with day to day activities, and more focused on Nicolson's thoughts about people, ideas, literature etc. In particular, they concern Nicolson's preparations for the entrance exam to Balliol college. They also concern Nicolson's affection for Robert Birley.

Of particular note:
-letter, dated 12 February 1932, concerning Nicolson's happiness and an analyses of why he is no longer so miserable at Eton. Also concerns the decision to postpone Nicolson' entrance exam to Balliol for a further 9 months because he is 'not nearly ell enough informed to pass decently, if at all'
-letter, dated 15 February 1932, concerning Nicolson's plans to spend 9 months in France, instead of remaining at Eton, before going to Balliol
-letter, dated 12 March 1932, concerning the impact of Aldous Huxley's 'Brave New World' on Nicolson's view of Communism
