Admin/Biog HistoryGuy Rawstron Branch, EGM (1913-1940) was a Royal Air Force fighter pilot and one of "The Few". He met Nicolson at Oxford in 1933. They became firm friends and moved into digs together at Beaumont Street in 1934. In the late 1930s, Branch also rented a flat in Dean Street to Nicolson. Branch was killed in action on 11 August 1940.

Also includes a letter from an unidentified individual at the Ministry of Information, dated 25 March 1941 containing a cutting of Branch's obituary published in the Times.

Despite the fact Nicolson and Branch were close friends at Oxford, the archive contains no letters from this period.
