-two letters from the Hon. Mrs. Roberts, curator of the print room, Royal Library, Windsor Castle, dated 24 February & 19 March 1987, concerning a watercolour by Princess Elizabeth after a Gainsborough drawing. Also includes two replies from Hayes, dated 2 & 23 March 1987, and a photocopy of the work
-letter from Anthony Mould, dated 14 Mar 2000, concerning a painting by Gainsborough entitled, 'Monkey with a bottle and a glass of wine on a table'. Also includes a photograph of the work and a photocopy of a second work by Pieter Molijn (which is not mentioned in the letter)
-letter from Henry Gentle, dated 28 May 2002, concerning a work entitled, 'The woodsman', of which he is seeking Hayes' opinion
-two letters from John C. Cloake, historian, dated 8 October-23 November 2003, concerning research he is conducting into Gainsborough's former residence in Richmond. Also includes a reply from Hayes, dated 29 October 2003, a short article on the subject written by Cloake and some photocopied images of the house
-letter from Hayes to Philip [?], dated 10 May 2004, concerning a work by Gainsborough after Van Dyck. Also includes a transparency and a brief note on the work
