Admin/Biog HistoryThe Cambridge History faculty building, designed by James Stirling was opened in 1968, when Stamp was an undergraduate. In 1976 Stamp published an article in the Cambridge Review about the failings of the building. The article was also published in Building Design. Throughout the rest of Stamp's career he would continue to write and provide lectures discussing the building and Stirling's other work.

Stamp's articles would often provoke controversy, resulting in public and private exchanges of correspondence.
