Title'British India' (Part 1)
Admin/Biog HistoryStamp's research into 'British India' was extensive, he first visited India in 1975 with Colin Amery, to visit LutyensÂ’ buildings in New Delhi. Throughout Stamp's career he researched the subject for a variety of activities including scholarship, journalism, teaching, and exhibitions.

In May 1977 Stamp authored an article for Art and Archeological Research Papers, titled 'Victorian Bombay: 'Urbs prima in Indis'. In 1980 Stamp wrote an article for Architectural Digest titled 'The Mararaja of Jodhpur's Palace'.

Two of Stamp's essays were translated and published in an Italian journal: 'Presenze del passato: Il Palazzo di Marno, Splendore vitoriano a Calcutta' and 'Favoloso Jodhpur'.

In 1980 Stamp was asked by the Royal Society to give the Sir George Birdwood Memorial Lecture on 10 Feb 1981. The lecture was titled 'British Architecture In India 1857-1947'. The lecture was chaired by Penelope Chetwode, and was later published.
