TitleGillespie, Kid & Coia
Admin/Biog HistoryGillespie, Kidd & Coia was a Scottish architectural firm famous for their application of modernism in churches and universities. John Gaff Gillespie (1870–1926), William Alexander Kidd (1879–1928), Giacomo Antonio Coia (1898–1981) were all partners in the firm. In 1945 Isi Metzstein joined the practice as an apprentice, and Andrew MacMillan joined in 1954. From c 1956 Metzstein and MacMillan assumed creative control of the firm.

Coia, Metzstein and MacMillan were all on the teaching staff at the Mackintosh School of Architecture.

Stamp's interest in the firm was expansive and he researched the firm for a variety of activities including scholarship, journalism, campaigning, teaching and for an exhibition. Through his role as Chairman of the Thirties Society and Piloti, Stamp was involved in campaigns relating to St Benedict's Church, Drumchapel, and St Peter's Cardross.

Stamp interviewed both Metzstein and MacMillan for National Life Story Collections, Architects' Lives.

He was also involved with the first edition of the MAC Journal, published in 1994, and an exhibition titled 'Themes and Variations', held at the Mackintosh Museum, both of which featured the work of Gillespie, Kidd & Coia.
