Admin/Biog HistoryThe Society of London Art Dealers is the principal trade association in the UK for dealers in fine art. It was established in 1932 and all members are vetted by its Executive Committee to ensure they meet the highest standards of honesty, integrity, expertise and quality of stock.

George Davey of M. Knoedler & Co. was Vice Chairman in 1943, and during the 1950s, the company were amongst approximately twenty dealers in the United Kingdom to have membership of the Society.
DescriptionIncludes:

-two letters from E.J. Ledger, Secretary, dated 9 and 18 August 1943, and a copy of Counsel's opinion on the question of the sale of forged pictures
-two letters from W.H. Clark, Secretary, dated 28 February 1951 and 3 July 1953, concerning export licences. Also includes a list of members of the Society.
-letter from Clark, dated 21 March 1955, forwarding the minutes of the meeting held on 15 March 1955
-typed document dated 3 May 1955, concerning copyright in paintings and drawings
