| Admin/Biog History | In 1959, Andrew McLaren Young, Curator of the Art Collections of the University of Glasgow was asked by the Arts Council of Great Britain to organise an exhibition of James McNeill Whistler's works in London. Sponsorship was obtained from the English Speaking Union, which enabled the exhibition to move to New York immediately after the London show.
Young selected the pictures and wrote the catalogue, and Simpson, together with Elizabeth Clare of Knoedler's New York office assisted with planning and arranging loans. |
