| Admin/Biog History | The International Trust for Croatian Monuments commissioned several writers to contribute essays for a book on Croatian art. The project was headed by Lady Jadranka Beresford-Peirse, the founder of the trust, and Sewell visited Croatia at her invitation in the early 2000s.
He wrote a chapter for the book titled 'Museums of Zagreb' which included mention of the Mimara Museum. This collection had been donated to the city of Zagreb in the 1980s by the art collector and philanthropist Ante Topic Mimara. Sewell, together with other art experts, had suggested that a large proportion of the works held there were fakes.
The book was published as: Norwich, J.J. et al. (2009). Croatia: Aspects of Art, Architecture and Cultural Heritage. London: Frances Lincoln Limited. |
