This review sparked a letter to the Evening Standard from thirty-five signatories from the art world attacking Sewell as a critic and demanding his dismissal from the paper. However, this did not happen and an anthology of his more controversial reviews were published as: Sewell, B. (1994). The Reviews that Caused a Rumpus and other pieces. London: Bloomsbury.
