Admin/Biog HistoryFrederick Gordon Roe was an art historian who was asked in 1954 to review Brockwell, M.W. (1954). The Van Eyck Problem. London: Chatto & Windus. His correspondence concerning the reviewing process and related material can be found been interleaved within a copy of the book. It is not known how Sewell acquired this material.

-newscuttings from The Times, dated 17 April 1956 and 8 December 1958 giving obituaries for M. Emile Renders and Brockwell respectively
-three letters and a card to Roe from Dorothea Marsh and Ursula Eland, daughters of Brockwell, dated 21 December 1958-9 January 1962, concerning their father and also dismissing the possibility of there being new material relating to the Arnolfini picture amongst his notes
