| Description | This file contains six letters from Ernest Oppé, Pauline's son, dated between 8 February 1916-2 October 1917, mostly written from Gefangenenlager Döberitz, a German prisoner of war camp during the First World War. The letters offer very little description of the camp or the conditions in which he was living, his only mentions of the situation are related to the emotional impact and requests for packages from home.
Also includes a statement from the Care Committee, dated 5 June 1918, concerning details on the above prisoner of war camp in regards to the means of contact relatives can have with family members in the camp, conditions for prisoners and similar matters. |
