| Admin/Biog History | Denys Oppé (1913-1992) was Paul Oppé's son.
He was educated at Winchester College and later, Trinity College, Cambridge. During the Second World War, he served in France and Ireland, initially, then later Lahore and Lucknan in India and Quetta in Pakistan. He reached the rank of Major.
Although having a keen interest in the arts, he appears to have been less involved with his father's work and collection than his sister Armide. He did inherit Oppés collection of Old Masters works, some of which were eventually sold at auction via Christie's long after Denys death in 2006.
He married Jean Ogilvie in 1949, and had four children, Lucy, John, Charlotte, and Mary. |
