| Admin/Biog History | Hans Calmann (1899-1982) was a German art dealer, based in London from 1937 until his retirement in 1973. Armide worked for Calmann at his shop at St. James' Place in the late 1930s. Through this connection, he became acquainted with Paul Oppé and evntually sold works to him, including many of the works that Oppé purchased for the National Gallery of Canada. He became close friends with both Paul and Armide and he was a regular visitor to the family home in Chelsea. |
