| Description | This file contains various letters from the Crespin family concerning the three children coming over to England for schooling, possibly with financial assistance from Valentine, and includes:
-thirty eight letters, notes and drawings to Valentine and occasionally Armide from the children, Jacques, Bertrand and Xavier, dated between 7 July 1944-14 February 1950 [mostly in French] -eighteen letters from Terése Crespin, dated between 19 July-16 January 1945 [in French]
There are also some additional letters which were kept together with the above and may be related [how they relate is not entirely clear from the letters themselves but they all appear to be from children or families that Valentine was assisting financially], these include:
-two letters from Michael Marky, dated [c 1946], concerning his health and recovery in Westminster Hospital -letter from Michelle [?], [undated] [in French] -two letters from Marie-Francoise, [undated], -two postcards from L. Cardwell, dated [c 1944], concerning Barlborough Hall School and the arrival of 'the boys' [most likely the Crespin children] |
