| Admin/Biog History | After Oppé's death in 1957, his daughter, Armide, friend and colleague, Aydua Scott-Elliot, and art dealer and friend of the family, H.M. Calmann, purchased - as a memorial tribute - a recast of a bust of Oppé by the sculptor, Uli Nimptsch. To arrange and pay for the work, Calmann asked for contributions from Oppé's friends and family, as well as colleagues from the art historical community. It was presented to the print room of the British Museum later that year.
The work by Nimptsch was originally completed in 1949 and had previously been exhibited at the Walker Gallery in Liverpool. |
