TitlePersonal Correspondence, Sikinos & Radnor
Admin/Biog HistoryIn 1967, Petherbridge left London and moved with Guy Petherbridge to his house on the Greek island of Sikinos. In the early 1970s Guy gained a place at Camberwell's Conservation Institute, which led the couple to return to the UK. They moved to Holmbury St Mary, to live in their friend, the artist David Russell's family cottage on the grounds of his family home, Randor House, returning to Sikinos every summer. After Deanna and Guy split up, Guy gave his house on Sikinos to Deanna. She continued to spend periods of time there for the next three decades.
DescriptionThis series contains correspondence sent and received by Petherbridge (often addressed to her and Guy), mostly related to the time she was living on Sikinos and at Radnor House, Holmbury St Mary. The majority of the correspondence was exchanged with friends and family in her social circle during this period. Additional correspondence, for example with individuals such as Petherbridge's sister Pam Sacks, can be found throughout the 'Annual Files'.

The letters are of a personal nature and discuss topics such as:

-life on Sikinos (e.g. neighbours; events; her house; island life)
-travel
-health
-politics (e.g. both in the UK and Greece)
-friendships and relationships
-arrangements to socialise
-work (e.g. current projects, exhibitions)

Petherbridge ordered this correspondence by individual sender, and she also provided brief notes on the correspondees. Where relevant this information has been included in the administrative history field of the relevant catalogue description for each file.

In some cases, the letters were not dated, but where it has been possible to ascertain approximate dates, these have been recorded in square brackets.

The correspondence has been arranged alphabetically by the surname of the correspondee. Files devoted to individuals contain, as a minimum, 5 items. The miscellaneous files include correspondence from individuals for which there are four items or less.
