TitleRussell, David
Admin/Biog HistoryIn Petherbridge's notes on this series of personal correspondence, she explains that David Russell (1927-[c 2010]) was an occasional 'Metaphysical' artist, with a studio in Thurloe Square, London. The studio was near to Petherbridge's apartment and studio in Exhibition Road. She later rented a mews apartment and studio from Russell which was attached to his family's country house Radnor House, Holmbury St Mary, Surrey.

Russell also owned properties in Florence and Gozo, Malta. Petherbridge rented the Florence apartment when studying fresco with Leonello Tintori in 1990. Petherbridge also visited Russell in Gozo. They lost touch when Russell moved to France.

Russell was a friend and life-long financial supporter of performance artist and poet Brian Catling.

Whilst in Florence Russell produced a series of 'puerile erotic' paintings and two pop-up books, 'The Secret Carnival' and 'Sophie's Dream Book'.
