| Admin/Biog History | Sylvia Melland (1906-1993) was a British painter and printmaker. Petherbridge met Melland in the 1960s at classes run by the printmaker Dolf Reiser. In the 1970s Petherbridge rented the cottage at the back of her house, in order to access her print studio. They continued their friendship until Melland's death.
In 1997 Petherbridge wrote the catalogue essay for the exhibition catalogue which accompanied 'Sylvia Melland (1906-1993) a retrospective exhibition, paintings and graphic works', held at the Boundary Gallery, 14 May-21 Jun 1997. |
