| Admin/Biog History | Petherbridge visited India in early 18 Dec 1985-1 Mar 1986, travelling and lecturing under the auspices of the British Council and working in the Lalit Kala Studios in Calcutta.
Seagull Books is an independent publishers founded in Calcutta [Kolkata] in 1982 by Naveen Kishore (b. 1953) a theatre lighting designer.
The book (Petherbridge, D., Michell, G. and McEwen, J. (1987) Temples and tenements : the Indian drawings of Deanna Petherbridge. Calcutta: Seagull Books in association with Fischer Fine Art Limited.) was published on the occasion of the exhibition originally titled 'Architectural Rights' later 'Temples and Tenements' at Fischer Fine Art Gallery, London (23 Apr-22 May 1987) and then toured India to Calcutta [Kolkata], Madras [Chennai], Bombay [Mumbai] and Delhi from Oct 1987-Feb 1988.
The book was financed by Fischer Fine Art Limited, as it coincided with an exhibition in London at the gallery.
