The book is a commissioned survey of contemporary art in public places in Britain, and provides a guide to who commissioned what and why.
The book was published by Art Monthly in collaboration with the Arts Council of Great Britain and the Crafts Council. Petherbridge was a member of the editorial board, alongside Peter Townsend, Peter Dormer and Alister Warman. She also authored four chapters including, 'Passionate and Dispassionate Patronage: opinions of patrons in the private and public sector'', for which she interviewed various patrons.
In Petherbridge's oral history (C466/152, Deanna Petherbridge, Artists Lives, British Library), she states that there are a lot of errors in this publication, including who the author of each article is, it is unknown which chapters/authors these are. |
