| Admin/Biog History | Petherbridge was invited to participate in a workshop sponsored by Orient Express Ltd. titled, 'International Architects and Sculptors Workshop', in Khajuraho, 10-17 Apr 1999. The workshop was co-ordinated by Pradeep Sachdeva, an architect based in Delhi. The workshop was organised to coincide with the Khajuraho Millenium.
Petherbridge flew to Delhi, 30 Mar 1999, to travel and sightsee around North India before the workshop began.
Petherbridge's return flight to the UK was delayed, and she missed two events: judging a national drawing competition sponsored by Barclays Bank, and delivering a keynote speech on Art & Design Education, in Nottingham.
Because of the poor management by Orient Express Ltd. of Petherbridge's travel arrangements, and the subsequent dispute, she asked for her name not to be used in connection with the workshop either in association with the project, or future publicity or outcomes.
At the workshop Petherbridge met Ramu Katakam, an architect from Bangalore [Bengaluru], they became friends and organised a house swap; Ramu and his family visited Sikinos later in 1999, and Petherbridge visited Katakam's house in Goa in 2001, and would continue to visit throughout the rest of her life. |
