| Admin/Biog History | 'The Quick and the Dead, Artists and Anatomy' was a national touring exhibition organised by the Hayward Gallery, for the Arts Council of England. The exhibition was selected by Petherbridge, and organised by Andrew Patrizio and Ann Elliott. The original title for the exhibition was 'Exquisite Corpses'.
It toured the following venues in England:

-Leeds City Art Gallery, Leeds, 28 Mar-24 May 1998
At the beginning of the project Francis McKee was employed as a curatorial consultant with the intention of providing advise to Petherbridge as the exhibition's selector. However, by 1997, McKee was no longer involved with the project.
After touring the UK, the exhibition toured to Geneva, the title of the exhibition was 'Corps à vif : art et anatomie', and it was held at the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire. The Geneva exhibition was organised by Claude Ritschard. Discussions surrounding the exhibition's tour to Geneva began in 1996, through correspondence with Andrea Carlino, Institut Louis Jeantet d'Histoire de la Médecine.
Petherbridge was disappointed with the outcome of the Geneva exhibition because additional material was included without her approval; the introduction to the thematic sections of the exhibition were written without her consultation, and included factual inaccuracies; and the layout of the exhibition had been changed without her consultation. |
