Admin/Biog HistoryPetherbridge curated a South Bank Centre exhibition titled ''The Primacy of Drawing: An Artist's View. The exhibition was organised by Robert Malbert, and toured the following venues:

-Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, 21 Sep-3 Nov 1991
-City Museum and Art Gallery, Stoke on Trent, 9 Nov-5 Jan 1992
-Graves Art Gallery, Sheffield, 11 Jan-23 Feb 1992

After the success of the exhibition Petherbridge began turning all the research she had undertaken for the exhibition into a publication. Petherbridge worked on this publication, continuing to research drawing for the next three decades, culminating in the publication Petherbridge, D. (2010) The primacy of drawing : histories and theories of practice. New Haven: Yale University Press.
