Admin/Biog HistoryFrom 8 July-8 September [1930], Waterfield rented Kentswood house in West Tytherley, Hampshire. He seems to have been on holiday following the end of his studies at Christ Church, Oxford. During this stay, he also spent 10 days in Guernsey at the end of August [1930], from where he took a day trip to the island of Sark. In the autumn he travelled to Menton in France, where presumably he stayed with his parents at their house Le Clos du Peyronnet.
DescriptionIn this complete but short (37-page) journal, Waterfield records his stay at West Tytherley, Hampshire, between 8 July-8 September [1930]. Entries are dated, but sporadic. The journal includes descriptions of the surrounding landscape, reflections on his appreciation of W.H. Hudson's 'Hampshire Days', and notes about the architecture of religious and other buildings in the following locations:

-Wareham (2 pages)
-Salisbury (5 pages)
-Winchester (half a page)

And when he visited:
-Guernsey and Sark (1 page)
-Menton, France (4 pages)

It also includes entries on Waterfield's visit to Oxford to attend a viva for his degree and being awarded a first class; his thoughts on nature and the seasons; country pursuits (for example, shooting and hunting) and land access, and memories of when he visited Cornwall as a child and the village of Rollright.
