| Admin/Biog History | The memorial exhibition of works from Oppé's collection held at the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, between 9 Mar-2 Apr 1961, was modelled on the Royal Academy exhibition of 1958 (see APO/6/7/4). Fewer works were shown (155 in total), and the distinction between British and European art was made more explicit. Kenneth Clark's original introduction was used again for the exhibition catalogue.
Oppé had worked with the gallery as a buyer from 1937 up until his death (for more material and information on this see APO/7/1). |
