| Description | This notebook appears to have been used by Oppé to record basic information about works in his collection. It contains quite brief entries on individual works and is largely empty. The entries are mostly organised alphabetically by artist name, with various artists from outside England at the front of the volume (these are not in alphabetical order), followed by English artists (anon.-Turner). It appears to be similar in content and potential use to APO/6/1/5, but is far less comprehensive, although the intention may have been for a more concise source of reference.
Oppé's entry for each work may include some, or all, of the following information:
-catalogue number assigned by Oppé -artist name and dates -title of work or description -medium and dimensions -notes on inscriptions -date of work -bibliographical history -exhibition history -date of purchase, seller name and price paid |
