DescriptionRectangular wooden case with a hinged lid and a front key lock, featuring lateral push-to-open brass buttons.
When opened, the lid displays a printed information sheet identifying the contents: 'The Improved Magneto-Electric Machine, manufactured by S. Maw, Son & Thompson.'

The case contains the machine, which consists of brass wheels and velvet component, a detachable handle, and detachable electrodes. The handle is used to operate the magneto-electric mechanism and it is inserted into the front of the case to rotate the internal brass wheel. On each side, an electrode can be attached via an inlet. Each electrode comprises a cable terminating in a wooden handle with a brass fitting.
