DescriptionFile of letters, documents and reports compiled by the Joint Committee on the College of Nursing, Dublin. This Committee was founded by the Royal College of Physicains of Ireland and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in response to the proposal of Sir Arthur Stanley to form a College of Nursing based in London. The Committee brought together various matrons and nursing groups. It was especially concern at the lack of Irish representation on the board of the new College of Nursing, and the proposed regulations surrounding the training of nurses. A number of reports were produced by the Committee and accepted by both College. Dr Thomas Percy Claude Kirkpatrick, Registrar of the College of Physicians, acted as secretary for the Joint Committee, and probably compiled this file of material.

See TPCK/2/6/1 for letters and reports covering the views of Dr Steevens' Hospital on the proposed College of Nursing.
