| Description | A series of the minute books of the board of governors for the period 1822 to 1981, the first volume in this series covering the period from the foundation of the hospital to 1822 is missing. There is also files of copies of minutes for the period December 1981 to November 1983.
The minutes record dates of board meetings, the name of the chair, and those present and apologies. The minutes cover the running and financing of the hospital, and subjects include repairs and improvements to the building; improvements to facilities and services; fund-raising and subscriptions; accounts, audits and overdrafts; correspondence; staff appointment, wages and conditions; tenancy and rent of site; annual reports and reports of the various committees. In the earlier minutes the boards correspondence is recorded at length, with transcripts of the letters, however, this practice is not continued and in later volumes reference only to correspondence are given. |
