| Description | Hard bound manuscript general ledger recording debit and credit accounts of the Mater Misericordiae Hospital for various securities. There is an alphabetical index by account name at the front of the ledger under the headings: ‘Folio’ [listing the folio page number in the ledger]; ‘Name of Security Invested In’; ‘Due In’ and ‘Paid By’. Each account is separated into debit and credit entries; the title of the debit accounts reads ‘Mater Misericordiae Hospital in account with’ or ‘…on foot of’ whilst the title of the credit accounts are the account name with any extra notes on monetary amount and percentage of stocks or shares invested. Each account has yearly entries on both debit and credit sides noting the months that payments are received or made. The amounts paid and received each month within a given year are noted, along with the yearly total.
Accounts include: British War Loan stock; account on foot of interest on loan to St Michael’s Hospital, Kingstown [Dun Laoghaire] (1915); Great Southern and Western Railway stock; Great Northern Railway stock; guaranteed Irish Land stock - manuscript note in account states ‘the interest accruing from this investment…to be applied to the maintenance of Dispensary Gynaecological patients in Beaumont [Convalescent Home, Drumcondra, Dublin] or failing that, any other convalescent house Gynaecologist may approve; bequeathed for the above purpose by the Late B W Carew, ‘Roristou’, Trim, Co Meath, Jan 1917’.
Enclosure is a manuscript note and calculations on an account for Guaranteed Land Stock purchased March 1917 with reference to Beaumont Convalescent Home ([c1920]; 1p).
