DescriptionHard bound volume containing the manuscript, signed minutes of the Medical Board of the Mater Misericordiae Hospital. The book includes an alphabetical index at the front which occasionally has agenda items entered and the corresponding page number for that entry. In the minutes themselves, from 11 February 1954 onwards, agenda items are entered in the margin in red ink making them easily identifiable. Pages are individually numbered within the book. See enclosures MMUHA/1/2/5 (76-83) for 2 further sets of typed minutes for Board meetings held on 26 January and 24 March 1970. Minutes include signed manuscript and typed letters pasted into the volume that were read to and written by the Board relating to items on the agenda, and are frequently between the Medical Board and the Sisters of Mercy regarding clinical appointments to the Hospital. Inside the front cover is taped a cutting from [?the British Medical Journal] listing Junior House Staff salaries [c1963].

Enclosures include: a copy of the hospital prospectus for the ‘Ninetieth Session 1953-1954 (1954; 15p); a copy of the hospital prospectus for the ‘Ninety-Third Session 1956-1957’ (1956; 16p); copy of the published booklet on the history of the hospital ‘Centenary of the Mater Misericordiae Hospital 1861-1961’ by Edward T Freeman (1961; 40p) – includes 3 inserts, manuscript note on the salaries per annum of named registrars (interns and externs) [c1961; 2p], two sets of manuscript notes on the tenure of staff including dates [c1961; 2p]; partial printed page from [?the British Medical Journal] listing ‘Junior Hospital Medical Staff Salaries’ (1963; 2p); three typed pages listing the recipients of the Mater Misericordiae Hospital Gold and/or Silver Medals from 1941-1970, manuscript note on the first page reads ‘list for Mr F X O’C 23/5/72’ (23 May 1972; 4p); typed copies of memos and notes relating to agendas in the minute book, consisting of a memo concerning future surgical staffing in the hospital including a department of cardiac surgery [c24 March 1969;
