DescriptionCeramic water filter known as the Pasteur-Chamberland Filter, as engraved, patented by Charles Chamberland in 1884. It consists of a hollow ceramic jug, which would have contained the ceramic filter (missing), a lid (broken), metal tap, and side handles. Used to filter water and contain the spread of typhoid fever.
