| Description | This is a Cyprane Inhaler, designed for self-administered Trilene as an analgesic during childbirth. It consists of a canister containing the Trilene, and a black India rubber face mask embossed with "Cyprane Ltd Oxenhope Keighley". The face mask is shaped to fit securely over the nose and mouth, with an opening in the centre to connect to the canister and allow the Trilene to pass through and be inhaled.
The tank of the mask is engraved with "Pat No 628709 Made in England CYPRANE Ltd KEIGHLEY ENGLAND" at the top, and it features a removable screw-in lid with a white insertion reporting in black ink "TO CHARGE. DRAIN & POUR IN 15 C.C.'S TRILENE". The canister has a rotating dial on the top section, engraved with "MAX TRILENE MIN" and markers to indicate the strength of Trilene being administered.
There is general wear and tear to both the mask and the canister, as well as residue along the interior and exterior aspects of the mask. There is some corrosion on the top sections of the canister. Part of Dillon Collection |
