TitleCautery Machine
Date1900-1949
DescriptionThis is a cautery machine secured within a wooden frame. The control panel is made of plastic and features ivory-colored plastic knobs. There are four knobs in total, all of which can be turned to operate the machine. The central knobs are larger and have a metal frame.

The top central knob is marked with a scale ranging from 0 to 10, with "Light" engraved beneath it in black ink. The bottom central knob has a scale from 1 to 5, with "Cautery" written underneath. The smaller knobs on either side control specific functions: the left one is labeled "Cautery," and the right one is labeled "Light."

Beneath the knobs, there is an outlet where a gun-shaped handheld device can be plugged in. This device was used for procedures and allows different probes, which complete the set, to be attached to its tip. The probes enable the cautery machine to burn or cut tissue during medical procedures.

The machine outlet has an Irish flag sticker and is engraved with "Made in Ireland."
