| Description | This item is a Fannin's scalp flap forceps, Willett's type. It consists of a pair of curved screwed T-shaped serrated tips with point and locking mechanism on the ring handles. The serration on the tips allows the placenta, scalp or uterus to be securely grasped. The forceps are "Made in England" from "Stainless" steel by "Fannin&Co Ltd", "Dublin", as engraved. Each jaw also has an "OT" engraving. It is used during labour when placenta praevia (a condition where the placenta covers the cervix) occurs, by grasping the placenta, or scalp of the baby with the flat serrated tips, and applying continuous grip on the head. |
