| Description | This item is a vulsellum, also known as Tenaculum forceps. It consists of a pair of screwed double-toothed jaws, secured by a ratchet mechanism locking between the finger rings with three levels of locking strength. It is made of plated metal, with minimal corrosion on the locking mechanism, the finger rings, and the screw-joint. On the outside of the stem of one of the handles has "Carl Reiner" engraved on it next to the joint, as well as "44" on the interior aspect of each stem. This medical instrument is still used in gynaecology and obstetric procedures to hold tissue in place, often the cervix. |
