DescriptionThese are metal artery forceps, resembling a pair of scissors in shape, featuring two shafts with finger rings. They are stamped with the number ‘44’ on one shaft. The item can be locked by applying pressure and interlocking the ridges at the centre of the two blades. The blades are serrated internally for grip. Minor corrosion is present. This instrument is used to control bleeding from blood vessels by clamping an artery. It is part of the Dr Diarmuid O’Driscoll Collection.
