DescriptionBlack plastic pinard horn. This monaural stethoscope was used to listen to the heart rate of a foetus during pregnancy, and used similarly to an ear trumpet by amplifying sound. It was invented by Dr Adolphe Pinard, a French obstetrician in the 19th century. Part of the Dr Diarmuid O'Driscoll Collection.
