| Description | These are plaster shears. It is composed of two shafts joined together by a screw joint. There are two finger rings on one end which are of different sizes. Towards the finger rings, there is a ratcheted closing mechanism to secure the lock. On the other end, there are two blades. One blade is curved and wide, whilst the other is curved and narrow. The space beside the screw joint is engraved with "STILLE SWEDEN" with two five pointed stars on either side, as well as another five pointed star beneath the logo. There is slight corrosion on the shears.
Plaster shears such as this one would have been used to remove plaster casts from patients in a precise and efficient manner, and are still in use today. |
