DescriptionSilver gilt ciborium with detachable lid. The stem in the form of St. Luke, holding a text and with two cattle at his feet. Celtic banded decoration around rim of bowl and foot. The lid finial in the form of two hands. Figure of St. Luke and finial hand cast from wax model, Ref. No. HI/1948-1-1. Bowl is inscribed "PRAESIDI SOCIISQUE/COLLEGII MEDICORUM REGII HIBERNIAE/PRAESES BETHEL SOLOMONS/DONO DEDIT/DIE FESTO SANCTO LUCAE./A.D. MCMXLVIII." and stamped with the maker's initials "A&M" and Dublin hallmarks for the year 1948.
