| Description | Small metal storage trunk belonging to Sir John Thomas Banks (1811-1908). Exterior black in colour, interior dark blue. Paint fairly chipped all over surface. Handle on either side. Keyhole at the front. On the lid, an image of the head and neck of a dragon with the motto "FIDE ET FORTITUDINE" on a yellow scroll, above, and in yellow lettering, below, "J.T. Banks/President King & Queens/College of Physicians/1870/10, Merrion Square East." Sir John Thomas Banks was Visiting Physician to the Richmond Lunatic Asylum and Regius Professor of Physic in Trinity College Dublin. He served as President of the King and Queen's College of Physicians in Ireland (now RCPI) from 1869 to 1871. |
