| Description | Framed, half-length portrait of Francis Barker wearing the robes of a Doctor of Medicine of the University of Dublin. Attributed to John Joseph Slattery. Nameplate on bottom of frame reads "FRANCIS BARKER, M.D., F.R.C.P.I./PROFESSOR OF CHEMISTRY/IN THE SCHOOL OF PHYSIC, 1809-1850./DIED 1859". On the back are labels for "NICHOLAS LOMBARD,/(Successor to Mr. Callaghan),/Carver, Gilder, Looking Glass & Picture Frame/MANUFACTURER,/No.2 Leinster Street,/Merrion Square/Dublin..." and "STARK, BROTHERS,/16 LOWER SACKVILLE STREET,/DUBLIN". The back of the board is also stamped "ROBERSON & CO./51 LONG ACRE LONDON". There are two metal hoops attached for hanging, one of which is broken. |
