Description
Life size statue of Sir Dominic John Corrigan (1802-1880) by John Henry Foley R.A. R.H.A. (1818-1874). White statuary marble figure, standing, wearing an academic gown and holding a manuscript. Signed J.H. Foley and dated London, 1869. Pedestal inscribed "SIR DOMINIC CORRIGAN. BART. M.D./PRESIDENT/OF THE KING AND QUEEN'S COLLEGE/OF PHYSICIANS IN IRELAND./MDCCCLIX." Corrigan was President from 1859 to 1864, the first Catholic to hold that office.
