| Description | An incomplete series of casebooks of diseases of the skin, compiled by Wallace Beatty during his time at the Adelaide Hospital. Beatty was appointed physician to the Adelaide Hospital in 1894 and remained in post until his death in 1923. Beatty took charge of the dispensary for diseases of the skin at the hospital, and devoted much of his career to the practice of dermatology.
The casebooks are made up of preprinted sheets with spaces for the patient's name, age, occupation and address, the date of consultation and the disease, followed by case notes and remarks. In most cases the notes are divided under headings including; Appearance, Location, Inspection, Duration, Treatment and Remarks. The notes are made in a series of different hands presumably by students/assistants to Beatty, in some cases the name of the doctor taking the notes is given. |
