| Description | One page, (page 71-72) from a larger book, titled, 'The Annual General Meeting of the Women's National Health Association of Ireland.' Angela Russell was notes as being present at the meeting. On page 72, the following note is recorded, 'The adoption of the Report was proposed by Dr. Angela Russell who stated that no one disputes that public ignorance is mainly responsible for public ill-health. The Women's National Health Association of Ireland could perform a further service by educating people and by teaching them to use the public health facilities now available. Health Centres should be established throughout the country at which people could obtain advice as to the prevention and treatment of disease. Such a centre should be a social centre and not have the atmosphere of a hospital but rather be conducted on the lines of a club which people would like to visit for its own sake apart from the medical benefits it might confer.' |
