| Description | Under the Charter of 1692 the College of Physicians had the power to examine all apothecaries and druggists operating with a seven mile radius of Dublin and to destroy any defective medicine. An Act of Parliament of 1735 gave the College the right to inspect annually all the Apothecaries Shops in Dublin, this practice continued until 1756, the practice was reintroduced under Lucas's Act in 1761. This section contains the surviving reports of the inspectors, with an early register of apothecaries and reports relating to the College's powers in relation to apothecaries. |
