| Description | File consists of 3 silver and blue enamel badges awarded to graduate nurses from the Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Dublin. The badges were produced by Weirs and Sons Jewellers, Dublin and each have silver hallmark stamps, 2 with short chains attached. Badges feature a Celtic cross with a harp in the centre in silver bordered by foliage at the bottom and the term ‘Diaeire’ [meaning ‘for God and Ireland’] at the top, all bordered by a belt in blue enamel with the words ‘Mater Misericordiae Hospital’ and featuring a small shamrock at the bottom of the badge. Also includes a typed copy of an article by Sr Eugene Nolan on the history and symbolism of the badge (2p; c1970]. |
